I found this recipe for Beef Jerky in The Herb Gardener. I wonder why you need smoke flavour? Boris, you might want to try this. Talk to your friendly butcher or use one of your sharp knives to cut the strips.
I have made it my challenge to search for food grown locally, possibly organic. At my recent foray through Capers I found potatoes (Fraserland yellow), red onions and celery root which were grown in BC. The vast majority of produce came from elsewhere - peas and red peppers from China and blackberries @ $8.99 for a small plastic container from Chile. I was surprised not to see much from local greenhouses. Even root vegetables assumed to grow here came from USA. - My quest continues.
