A bit of a cooking weekend

Or at least, a cooking Sunday. For lunch, French Onion Soup. Yes, that's a new feature – lots of recipes are found on other websites, and it's just plain annoying to re-type them here. So, a little bookmarklet that sends recipe links you find back here to this site. Not quite working right yet, so it's not enabled for everyone. There will be a post and some Help text once it's up.

The French Onion Soup was quite delicious. Turns out that "French Onion" is not very standard, or rather a new~ish invention. None of my "basic" cookbooks had a recipe for it (but I did find some more good "regular" onion soup recipes). So, that link at AllRecipes.com fit my definition: it has beef broth and red wine, and does the baking-with-cheese on top.

As if that wasn't enough of a hearty meal, I ended up making meat loaf and mashed potatoes for dinner (with Kate making a big salad on the side).

Both of those are dishes which can almost be made using a matrix: pick some ingredients from column A, some from column B, and optionally from column C. I did this a long time ago for Evan – I made a matrix of ingredients to go in curry.

Anyway, fair warning: I don't know how repeatable those two recipes are, since I was only sort of paying attention. Maybe I'll snap a picture when I eat the leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

Feature? - Request a Recipe

Hmmm... how about a feature to input recipe requests that could get sent out on another feed?

Just a thought...

Interesting

Hmm. Yeah, not sure how to do that exactly. Ideally, you would have a "looking for" recipes section, and then users could just submit links to answer them.

Or, of course, people could just do a simple blog post and people post in commments :P

I just probably add a feature wishlist page at some point....
