Well, Christmas means some time off, time that I've been using to do a bunch of cooking.
So far:
- Banana Bundt Cake from Moosewood Low Fat Favorites *
- Chicken Broccoli Soup (most of it frozen for some quick dinners)
- Beef and Broccoli (yes, I had a lot of broccoli ... also frozen for leftovers)
- Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies, with Susie (we skipped the maple glaze and the slice of bacon on each cookie; reaction has been mixed...we are sure that it actually needs MORE bacon taste....)
- Potato Latkes (similar to the potato pancake recipe Anne posted)
- Duck cooked with Mort Subite Framboise (Belgian raspberry beer), stuffed with pears and chorizo
- Fanny Bay Oysters poached in a white sauce flavoured with white wine, mustard, and horseradish *
- Local BC mussels and clams steamed in white wine, back bacon, and peppers *
Those marked with an * I'm going to try and get posted here as full recipes in the next couple of days. Also, my mom called from our cabin near Deka Lake, asking me to look up a couple of recipes -- German Pfannkuchen and a Turkish Lamb / cabbage dish -- from her very old German cookbooks. Another good excuse to get some more recipes up here.
Hope all your holiday recipes are working out well and being consumed with friends and family.
